Community Advice Offices

Adams Mission Paralegal Office is a settlement situated on the west of Amanzimtoti and South of Durban. It is a peri-urban area. The office was established in 2002 and in 2005 the office was closed. In 2008 Ms Nobuhle Mbili who had worked in an advice office before with another organisation volunteered herself to work in the office and was subsequently employed. Since its inception the office deals with the following cases: Land restitution, Social grants, Road Accident Fund claims, Domestic and Gender-based Violence, Crimen injuria, Labour matters in particular COIDA, Unfair labour practices, Unfair discrimination and UIF benefits. The office also does community educational workshops which deals with human rights and socio-economic rights topics.

Amazizi Paralegal Office is located in the Drakensberg surrounded mountainous region of KwaZulu Natal between Lesotho, Free State and Emnambithi/Ladysmith. The area is under traditional leadership (Amakhosi and Izinduna). The office was established in 1995, since its inception the cases dealt with are: Ukuthwala (Women Abduction), Domestic violence, Labour matters in particular Provident Fund claims, Road Accident Fund claims, Social Grants, Farm related matters such as eviction of farm workers and occupational injuries. The Advice office conducts community educational workshops on Human rights and socio-economic rights topics.

Amaoti, before it became a society (community) it was then a forest, covered in bush with numbered houses in the area, thus situated only on the upper-hill side of the area, and the forest or bushes on the low lying area, by the river, Ohlange River. Since its inception the office deals with the following cases: Land restitution, Social grant support, RAF claims, Domestic and gender-based violence advice, Crime injuria, Labour matters, Unfair dismissals and UIF matters. The office also provide community educational workshops which deals with human right and socio-economic rights topics.

Dondotha Paralegal Office is located in the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal. The biggest proportion of land within the uMfolozi Municipal area is owned by private organisations and Ingonyama Trust Board. This privately owned land is located in the centre of the municipal area surrounding KwaMbonambi. The second-biggest area is Mhlana Traditional Authority where the Dondotha Paralegal Office is located.The office was established in 2001. Ematheni Paralegal Office is located in the deep rural north of the KwaZulu-Natal province. The area is under traditional leadership (Amakhosi and Izinduna). The office was established in 1999. Since its inception the cases dealt with are: Civic matters, Application of social grants and RAF claims.The office conducts community educational workshops dealing with human rights and socio-economic rights topics.

KwaDlangezwa is next to University of Zululand and is located in uThungulu District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The office was established in 2002. Since its inception the office provides free legal services to the community, and deals with cases such as: Application of Social grant, RAF claims, Application of Birth certificates and Identity documents applications. The office conducts community educational workshops on human rights and socio-economic rights.

KwaQiko Paralegal Office is located in the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal and is largely made up of traditional settlements and is currently characterised by limited economic activity. The Advice office is based at the Buhle Bogu FET College. The office was founded in 1992 by Inkosi Phikubuxoki Roy Bele, while he was a student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The advice office provides free legal advice to community and deals mostly with cases such as: UIF benefits, Mines surplus apportionment, Application of social grant, Death benefits, RAF claims and Medication and conflict resolutions. the office conducts educational workshops on human rights and socio-economic rights.<br />

KwaXimba Paralegal Office is located in the west of Durban near Cato Ridge (Halfway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg). The Advice office is based at the Traditional Court and was established in 1992. Since its establishment, the office provide free legal advice to the community and deals with cases such as: RAF claims, UIF benefits, Compensation injuries and diseases, Provident fund claims, Social grants, COIDA. The office also conducts educational workshops on human rights and socio-economic rights.<br />

Limehill Advice & Resource Centre is situated in the Northern KwaZulu-Natal 49 km east of Ladysmith. The area is predominately rural. The office is located in the Mchunu Traditional Authority Administration Centre. The Limehill Advice & Resource Centre started in 1997 after being informed by the survey conducted by late Cosmos Desmond titled Limehill revisited in 1978 assessing the decade impact of force removals policy under technical guidance supervision by University of Natal.<br /> The office is providing free legal advice to the community and has successfully dealt with following cases: Land restitution, Unfair labour practice, UIF benefits, Mines surplus apportionment, Deceased estates and Mediation and conflict resolution where needed. The office conduct educational workshops on human rights and socio-economic rights within the areas.<br />

Madadeni Paralegal Office is located in the North-western part of KwaZulu-Natal in the township of Madadeni. The office was established in 1990. The advice office assist the community with free legal advice. Since its inception the office deals with the following cases: Provident fund claims, compensation fund claims, RAF claims, social grants and mediation and conflict resolution. The office conducts educational workshops on human rights and socio economic rights.

Mpukunyoni Paralegal Office is located in the coastline of north-eastern KwaZulu Natal. The area is under traditional leaders (Izinduna and Amakhosi), the office is located in two areas, the Mgeza traditional court and at Mfekayi (5 km away to Hluhluwe from Mtubatuba). Muden Paralegal Office is located in a small town located 24 km northwest of Greytown and 38 km south-east of Weenen. The office was established in 1995 and had since been serving the community. The office is providing free legal advice to the community and has successfully dealt with the following cases: mediation on cases of stock impounding, RAF claims, Domestic Violence, Provident fund claims, Unfair dismissals, Social grants and Death benefits.
